Antioxidant Activities and Chemical Composition of Essential Oil of Rhizomes of Zingiber officinale (Ginger) and Curcuma longa L.(Turmeric)

This study aimed to determine the essential oil volatile components of ginger and turmeric rhizomes, as well total antioxidant capacity samples according CUPric Reducing Antioxidant Capacity (CUPRAC), ferric reducing potential (FRAP) method free radical scavenging activities standards such BHA, BHT, Trolox were determined using a DPPH method. Essential analysis was also performed on Shimadzu GCMS-QP2010 SE (Japan) model with Support Rx-5Sil MS capillary column (30 m x 0.25 mm, film thickness ?m). capacities oils evaluated CUPRAC in millimole Trolox/gram -oil equivalent. GC-MS showed presence 5 major peaks identified Curcumene (13.46%), Zingiberene (33.92%), ?-Farnesene (8.07%), ?-Bisabolene (6.39%), ?-Sesquiphellandrene (15.92 %), respectively. Turmeric 3 Ar-Turmerone (29.24%), ?-Turmerone (22.8 ?-Turmerone (18.84%). values calculated 1.97 ± 0.102 mmolTR/g-oil for Zingiber officinale R. 3.40 0.071 mmol TR/g-oil Curcuma longa L. The effect turmeric, decreased order Trolox>BHA>BHT>Turmeric>Ginger which 95.25 0.05%, 62.57 0.34%, 61.6 0.3%, 51.45 0.59%, 50.26 0.09%, at concentration 150µg/mL, Additionally, it revealed that exhibited effective power.
